Michael Shanks, who played Stargate icon Dr. Daniel Jackson in Stargate: SG1 and Stargate: Atlantis is set to guest star on new scifi favorite, Eureka!

The episode featuring Shanks will air on Sept. 25 on the SciFi Channel. Shanks plays an artist named Christopher Dactylos who winds up as the chief suspect in a murder investigation. In an amusing twist, Shank’s wife, Lexa Doig will appear as a guest on Eureka in the week prior to Shank’s own appearance.

This Must Be What Going Insane Feels Like…

Monday, August 27th, 2007

“This must be what going insane feels like…”

That was my roommate, Anne Marie’s only comment after watching this video.
I, however, couldn’t find any words at all. None. Zip. Stunned doesn’t begin to describe it. So just watch as David Hewlett… raps.

What Happened to Feretti???

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Feretti.jpgDid you know that French Stewart, who gained fame as Harry Solomon on 3rd Rock from the Sun, played the original Lou Feretti in the 1994 Stargate movie. The character appeared again in the Stargate: SG-1 pilot Children of the Gods, played by Brent Stait.

After that the character faded away, never again mentioned in the show. However, Feretti is alive and well in the world of fanfic where is a relatively popular secondary character.

For those of you who may not recall much of Feretti from the movie, I have three words for you. “What a rush!”

Don S. Davis - From MacGyver to Stargate

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Don_S_Davis.jpgDon S. Davis, who played the beloved character of General Hammond has not been idle since leaving his full-time position on Stargate: SG-1. Nor has he left Stargate entirely behind him.

Davis has appeared as a guest star in episodes such as Prometheus Unbound. Amusingly, he has seen a lot more action as a guest star than he ever did as a regular. In Prometheus Unbound Hammond swipes one Dr. Daniel Jackson out from under the nose of a very perturbed General Jack O’Neill. Remember that’s with two L’s. Then Hammond commands an intergalactic ship, is captured by a thieving alien, stranded on a dead cargo ship, nearly asphyxiates and then fights off Goa’uld ships to save the life Jackson. It’s a pretty good episode for him all around.

For those who don’t know, Davis once played the double for character Pete Thornton on MacGyver. In fact, that how he met Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O’Neill on Stargate and MacGyver on MacGyver).

Davis has also appeared in such well know shows as Wiseguy, L.A. Law, 21 Jump Street, Knots Landing, Twin Peaks, Highlander and The Outer Limits. In fact, he’s been in so many shows and movies that I simply don’t have time to list them all.

Recently, Davis has appeared in shows such as Psych, in which he played a man who killed his own son, and The Dead Zone in which he played Senator Harlan Ellis.

So, keep a watch out for Davis in the following upcoming projects:
Beyond Loch Ness (2007)
Beneath (2007)
Ghost Prison (2007)
Far Cry (2008)

Spader Shines in Boston Legal!

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Spader01.jpgJames Spader, who played the original Dr. Daniel Jackson in the 1994 movie Stargate, currently stars in the acclaimed television series Boston Legal.

Spader plays Alan Shore, an ethically challenged attorney who lights up the television screen with his snide, self-centered egotism. It’s a role that Spader originated in The Practice. It’s also a role that couldn’t be farther away artistically from the gentle, earnest and self-sacrificing character of Dr. Daniel Jackson. But then, Spader usually plays the unpleasant fellows. It is his portrayal of Jackson that was outside his usual forum.

Boston Legal seems to make a habit of collecting scifi greats for its cast. Spader co-stars with William Shatner who made science fiction a household name with his portrayal of Captain James T. Kirk in Gene Roddenberry’s original Star Trek. Rene Auberjonois, who played Odo on Star Trek: DS9 also graces the show with his witty repartee.
