The following are spoilers for season 4 of Stargate: Atlantis. Read at your own peril!
David Hewlett (Dr. Rodney McKay) announced on Twitter that fans will be treated to seeing McKay trapped inside a small room with love interest Dr. Katie Brown during the episode “Quarantine.”

Amanda Tapping (Colonel Dr. Samantha Carter) will be joining the cast of Atlantis for an unknown number of episodes. Carter will take Weir’s place as the head of the Atlantis base, fact which Tapping says will put Carter well outside her comfort zone.
Torri Higginson (Dr. Elizabeth Weir) has gone from full time cast member for season 4. Whether this status will continue in season 5 is unknown.

Actress Rachel Luttrel is pregnant, and her character Teyla Emmagan will share that condition, announcing her pregnancy to another alien during the episode “The Seer.” Several cast and crew members have discussed the story arc in recent interviews, so it is definite!
Due to apparently overwhelming fan outcry at the death of Dr. Carson Beckett in the season 3 episode “Sunday,” Paul McGillion will be reprising the role in season 4. Exactly what form Beckett’s return will take is unclear, however, Joe Mallozzi assured fans that it will be Beckett “in the flesh” and not a hologram or some other such trick.
Actress Kate Hewlett, sister of David Hewlett, will reprise her role as Jeanie Miller, sister of Dr. Rodney McKay, in season 4 in the episode “Miller’s Crossing.”
